The proactive will be i will make sure to having routine and systematic inspection for the present stage of workplace the investigator will ensure that the worker are in good conditions and they follow the safety rules when doing their work. Somethings the inspection will be random so the worker will have no time to react and some inappropriate action can be found but sometimes the inspection time will be told to make them focus and help them to safety

I would use reactive indicators such as the number of accidents that happen in the workplace , if the accident case remains or rise this means that the inspection is not working and the rate or the way of inspection needs to change. The rules make should always follow the WSH policy that is updated all the time.

I would use proactive indicators such as the number of workers that work for me that have WSH background or have attended a WSH course before. This is because I can use these workers to monitor the companies overall performance and utilise their feedback and opinions to improve safety and health of the workplace.

I would use reactive indicators such as the number of accidents that happen in the workplace to be able to see whether or not there was any fault with my WSH objectives that need to be changed. This can help improve safety and health in the workplace as it would bring about changes to the risk controls to be able to reduce the number of accidents happening in the workplace.

Depending on the situation, the type of indicators I am going to use can be different. If there is an accident that occur at the workplace then reactive indicators have to be used as the desired safety outcome is not achieved. Through the reactive monitors we are able to see whether the workplace safety risks are controlled or not. If it is not then we have to see the accident frequency rate, severity rate and number of accidents to find another way to better control the risks to improve and better monitor the safety and health in the workplace.

If there is no accident in a workplace for many years, or if there is a new way control the risks is implemented then proactive indicators will be used. This is to monitor the effectiveness of the risk control system and provide feedback on the ways to improve so as to prevent an accident or incident to happen. This can be achieved through systematic and routine inspections of the present state of the workplace to identify any areas to improve for the safety and health of the workers in the workplace. I have to ensure that the workers working there understand what they have to do or follow at the workplace to ensure their safety and health. I also have to ensure the workplace environment is good and workplace environment is good and workplace machines are in good condition. This is so as to be able to prevent an incident or accident from occurring.

Therefore, depending on the situation i will best use proactive or reactive indicators to monitor performance and improve safety and health for people working at the workplace.

How I would best use proactive/reactive indicators to monitor safety and health

Proactive and reactive indicators can help to improve workplace safety and reduce the risk of a workplace safety incident. For proactive indicator, it monitors proactively of the effectiveness of risk control systems and provide feedbacks on safety performance before accident or incident happens. Examples include having routine and systematic inspection for the present stage of workplace so as to provide early signs of deterioration in the effectiveness of key risk control system, number of training hours on WSH and number of workers trained on WSH. With a longer hour of training, they can get to familiarise with the regulations more and knowing the number of workers trained on WSH can help to easily distribute the duty to the employees who have adequate training so as to achieve a better safety and health outcomes.

However when the desired safety outcome failed, the reactive indicators would step in. Reactive indicators monitor reactively the effectiveness of risk control systems, identifying the gaps and weakness in the systems and to report on incidents or accidents to check that the controls in place are adequate. Examples include accident frequency rate; helps to measure how often workplace incident occur and accident severity rate; helps to identify the severity of injury. ( minor, moderate or major etc. ) By having these, it can raise awareness of taking care of the workers safety and health.

Proactive indicators monitor proactively the effectiveness of risk control systems and provide feedback on safety performance before an incident or accident happens .Some proactive indicators include number of WSH improvement projects completed and number of workers trained on WSH .Having proactive indicators in place will help me to take necessay action in improving workplace safety and health before any accidents could occur.The number of wsh improvement project completed will help to improve on the safety of the company and will also further ensure the safety of the employees,improving on the safety and health.Not only that,having more workers trained on WSH will help more workers to have the knowledge of keeping themselves safe during their work,improving the safety and health of the workplace. Reactive indicators step in after the desired safety outcome has failed. Reactive inidcators monitor reactively the effectiveness of risk control systems, identify gaps and weaknesses in these systems, and report on incidents or accidents to check that the controls in place are adequate.Some reactive indicators include accident frequency rate,accident severity rate and number of accidents.Having these reactive indicators at place,i will be able to keep track of the safety of the workplace and take necessary action in improving the safety of the workplace.Therefore,reactive indicators help me to monitor performance and improve safety and health of a workplace.

The critique on the sample policy that I found on Google did help me improve my own policy as it gave me insight to what should be put into my own policy and how I can improve my existing policy so that it can be easier to understand. Through the critique on the sample policy, I’ve learned that different companies have different policies and objectives that they want to achieve so in order to be able to create a good policy I must understand the organisations main objectives and try to meet its requirements.
